Saturday morning I had the opportunity to join a friend of mine Lou Berelli on his boat for some spring brown trout fishing. I always enjoy fishing with other guys on their boats and see how they have their boats set-up, and what kind of trolling program they run. Sharing knowledge with others is what makes us more successful on the lake.
We left the dock aroun 6:45am, made a right turn out of the harbor, and started trolling to the east. We only ran 6 lines to start with, and that's pretty much all we needed to run on Saturday. We started off slow, but finally found some fish to stay with, and we did very well there. We caught lots of brown trout, with 2 of those being in the 10-12 lbs range, one small steelhead, and we also got an early spring surprise by boating 2 nice kings, about 12lbs a piece. Lake conditions were good, 1-3 waves, and great water color. I couldn't have ask for a better day, and better company. Next time Lou will be joining me on the Jolly II.
