2012 is deffinately one of the best seasons of fishing we've had here on Lake Ontario. We did experience a couple of slow downs this year,(bad timing Tom) but overall the fishing was very consistent. Mother Nature really help out with that. Although way too dry, the weather was stable, and created some stable lake conditions. We only ever made a couple of run off shore as the fishing right out in front of home port was good all summer for steady fishing for kings, cohos, steelhead, brown trout and lake trout.
We had some youngsters on board this year for their first big lake trips. One of which was my Nephew Owen who came out of the shakedown trip of the season, the first Saturday in April. We only fished a couple of hours, but found some brown trout, and made him a life time fisherman. Another young man we had on the boat this year was Dakota. An already die hard fisherman, he was calling the rods within a few hours of fishing, and even boated a nice king to take home for the dinner table. We be seeing them again next year for Father's Day weekend, and I'm already looking forward to the trip.
Right now we are in the middle of the archery season and looking forward to possibly hanging a tag on a good buck. As for the fishing, there is some very good fishing to be found close to shore in the mornings and evenings, and also in the lower rivers and streams for kings, cohos, steelhead and browns. I hear they have been hitting flies, egg sacks, skein, plugs and spoons. So if you're not in a tree stand, get out there and get some fish.
We already looking forward to next fishing season, and even though the boat is packed away, we have a punch list a mile long of projects and gear to fix, and tackle to buy. It's not too early to book a charter date for next season. We will be ready to fish by April 1st. If there any dates that you are interested in and would like to put on hold for next year, send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me 585-233-9163.
