This past weekend Bob and I fished with our friend Capt. Lou. We started out deep looking for a King or 2, and hooked up pretty quickly while setting lines and lost it just as fast. That would be our only bite for a long time, lots of cold water out deeper yet. There was great looking water on the inside and we slipped into 10 feet of water to take a look, and not long after we boated a nice brown. As we worked easterly, west of the harbor, our bite got better once we found a piece of water that was a degree warmer than the rest. We stayed and worked that water for a couple of hours and we finished with a solid catch of browns, a coho, small king, and 1 steelie. Lots of the same patterns that have been producing fish for us produced this weekend, Green Gator, Orange Gator, Orange Crush, and Mixed Veggies. We did not run sticks this weekend, but ran an all spoon program, 2 shallow riggers and 4 planer board lines. With the weather kicking up and the fish coming 2-3 at a time we had our hands full. It was a great day to be on the water with my buddies, and I evening got to land a few fish finally.
I’m already looking forward to getting back on the water this weekend, and after that, 3 days in Wilson fishing the Niagara ProAm with the LandingZone team.
